One Engagement to Rule Them All

The key to building a business is building real connections. Some businesses use social media to showcase their perfection to the world, but the real magic happens when you engage. Alliances are forged through consistent, meaningful interaction.

Relationships are not about posting—they are about showing up when people need you. Too often, businesses use social media like a billboard, pushing their message out over and over again. But the strongest relationships are built over time, through thoughtful interactions that generate positive responses.

It’s actually pretty simple: Show up for others.

Celebrate milestones. Congratulate clients, partners, and peers on their wins—whether it’s a business anniversary, a promotion, or a great project.

Engage with intention. Take a second to like, comment, and share posts from prospects, partners, and people in your industry. Your thoughtful interaction keeps you top of mind.

Check back in. Asking “How did that project turn out?” shows you noticed their work.

Want to make this easier? Start a tickler file or add reminders of things that happened to your calendar. If you write some things down now, next March, you won’t forget that anniversary you wanted to acknowledge, Pi Day, or the perfect April Fools’ pun you thought of too late.

Taking notes now will make it easier to check in later. This summer, you’ll be able to compliment colleagues on their progress, recognize the challenges they’ve overcome, or understand why they are so frustrated.

This isn’t about strategy. It’s about showing up. In a busy world, social media gives you the chance to build real relationships.

Take 20 minutes this week to check in on the social media page of at least ten connections that matter to you. Engage authentically, and jot down follow-up opportunities. If someone shares a photo at a groundbreaking, remind yourself to watch for their open house.

Jotting down notes improves memory and strengthens relationships. When you reconnect, you’ll be better prepared to ask thoughtful questions and understand what challenges they’re facing.

Engagement is the marketing process that rules them all and SOCIAL MEDIA IS A GREAT TOOL for engagement.  As always—don’t try to do this alone. Bring in an assistant and encourage your team to be part of company engagement.

It takes authentic engagement to build the relationships you need to grow your company.

You’ve got this!
