Hello!
Are you where you expected to be in terms of revenue and profit? Not just busy—but getting the kind of leads you need to turn a profit?
It’s easy to set goals in January and spend the rest of the year ignoring them as you put out fires. This year, let’s stay on course.
Warning signs you may be off track:
You’ve been busy, but the profit margin is thin.
Work is coming in randomly from sources you don’t control.
You are not getting calls for your signature services.
Leads are slow enough you’re settling for work that isn’t ideal.
The numbers don’t lie:
How does your six-month revenue compare to the first half of last year?
Don’t guess—pull a report. Create one if needed. I’ve attached a simple spreadsheet to help your finance people know some common expenses to include.
Reply to this email with “send in excel” if you want the actual worksheet.
If you are tracking your numbers we can use them to figure out:
Where the budgeted money went
What’s paying off or bringing the best returns
If anything has quit working
If you don’t set it as a budget category, see if you can tag it to pull reports. Doing this gives you a real edge.
Action Step:
Request your report or download the budget check-in sheet and ask your bookkeeper or office manager to fill it in. Next Monday, we’ll build on this and talk about mapping out your Revenue Roadmap for the rest of the year.
You’ve got this!
